Beachbody 21 Day Fix™ Program Review

21 Day Fix Beachbody

I’m really hoping the snowstorm we just had in Denver is marking the end of winter. (We always have one last freak snowfall in late April or early May.) And that means it is almost swimsuit time! I am NOT ready for a swimsuit!! I need to kick into gear and get in shape fast. I was really excited to try the 21 Day Fix kit from Beachbody.

My friend Tanya is a Beachbody coach and I worked with her for 2 months. I did the P90X program from Beachbody while tracking what I ate. At first I was really excited about it. Then I realized what a commitment it is. Some of the videos were over an hour long. The yoga video was almost 1 hour and 40 minutes! I don’t know anyone who has that kind of time. I found myself missing workouts and feeling really guilty. I am also not a morning person in the least bit, and there was no way I could way up super early to fit this in. However, I did learn a lot and became stronger from doing the program.

Luckily, I’ve been introduced to the 21 Day Fix. These videos are only a half hour, which I can definitely fit in every day! I could even do them in the morning. On Day 1, I did the cardio workout. Now I had probably slacked off for about a month and it’s amazing what just a month of not working out will do to your body. I felt like I was dying after only 4 minutes of this video! It was really intense and fast paced. Just from cardio, my entire body hurt for the next 2 days! But a good hurt of course. If you are trying this program after not being active, I highly recommend you add more time to stretch. You do a little at the beginning and end of the video, but 10 more minutes of stretching could make a huge difference.

The 21 Day Fix also offers a different way of tracking your food. Switching it up helps keeps things interesting. You get containers of a different colors and sizes. The manual tells you which foods get measured by which color container. Using a formula, you figure out how much of each color container you should eat in a day. It takes a while to get used to this method, but I found it to be easier than counting calories and fat and carbs and whatever else other programs make you keep track of. It helps you focus on what foods are good for you, rather than how many calories you can eat in a day.

I already notice a change in the way I feel. I have more energy and am more awake in the mornings. I feel stronger and do not feel sick as much.
