Emily’s Favorites: February 2016

I’m so excited to be doing my first “favorites” post! I love sharing my excitement over new products I find. I am no beauty expert, so when I finally started using moisturizer, or paint my nails instead of bite them, or start using more than one brush for eyeshadow, I’m like “Hey, look at me. I’m adulting!”

I have been thinking about doing this for awhile on my YouTube channel, but my heart is no longer in YouTube. Long story short, I moved and my living situation is not conducive to shooting videos and the there is also something wrong with the software I used to edit videos. It has been a major headache, so I have decided to just blog and provide nice pictures. I hope you’re okay with that.

If I had to describe this purse in one word, it would be OBSESSED. There I was in Marshall’s, looking for a cheap white tank top to wear under all my shirts (because women’s shirts are transparent), when I saw it. Those sneaky Marshall’s stores and their strategic placing of the purse rack next to the dressing rooms. I looked at that purse 5 times. I would look at the purse, walk away and agonize over it, wandering aimlessly through Marshall’s, trying not to look like I was scoping the place out to rob it. The dressing room lady must have thought I was crazy. After the fifth inspection, it hit me. I marched back to the purse, turned to the dressing room lady and said “I’m doing it!,” grabbed the purse and walked off into the sunset. (After paying for it, of course.) It grows on me everyday and I get many compliments.

This is a great structured purse and never falls over or caves in! I hate purses that do that. Sorry, but it’s no longer available online.

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream

I think I received a sample of this in my monthly Birchbox subscription. Even though it says “body,” I have only ever used it on my face. Is that taboo? I don’t care. It makes my face feel so creamy and soft. I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin.

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

Another goody discovered thanks to Birchbox. I love the full and almost clumpy lash look. This mascara goes on easy and dries quickly. Apply a second time for an exponentially fuller look!

Julep Clean Slate Conditioning Nail Polish Remover

This acetone-free nail polish remover is the best nail polish remover I have ever tried. It works better than nail polish remover WITH acetone. This one time, in my kitchen, when I was trying to open my nail polish with a butter knife, the bottle shattered in my hands and I was literally holding a puddle of nail polish, dripping onto the fake hardwood floor of the rented apartment. (Goodbye, deposit!) I booked it to the store with my purple hands to buy all the acetone remover I could find. I scrubbed and scrubbed until my floors and hands were raw. Then I ran out of nail polish remover. In the depths of my bathroom closet I found an extra Julep nail polish remover I had stashed. It took all the nail polish right off. This is what I call a miracle in a bottle.
