Exciting Ways To Transform Your Home For Summer

Image

Summer is finally around the corner and in the last few weeks, we have seen a huge improvement in the weather as well as the daylight we enjoy every day. Spring and summer signify a new beginning and most of us look forward to being able to host our friends and family for barbecues and parties once the weather perks up.

If you want to prepare for a summer of hosting get-togethers and having fun; there are a lot of things you can do. Your home might be looking a little drab and dull – especially after spending many months cooped up inside during the pandemic. Now is the ideal time to put your DIYer head on and consider the projects you can do around the house to vamp it up and make it new.

Here are some of the different ways that you can make your home fresh, fun, and exciting for the summer and wow all of your guests.

Build a conservatory

To make the most of the summer sun and provide you with a whole new room of the house to enjoy – one thing you can do is build a conservatory in your garden. A conservatory can be a great feature for a number of reasons. First of all, it can provide you with a sitting space that is cooler and works perfectly in those hot summer months; it can be a great place to sit during summer get-togethers with your loved ones, and it can also double up as a greenhouse of sorts and be the perfect place to grow some of your favourite plants. Consider installing a conservatory that leads out from your kitchen and it will bring a whole new dynamic to your home in the summer.

Repave the driveway

If you have never touched your driveway since moving into your home; it is likely in need of some drastic TLC. It is important now and again to consider improving your driveway and one of the ways you can do this is to simply get rid of the old paving stones and start again. This will not only improve the structural integrity of the new driveway but will make a massive impact on the look of your home from the street and can also serve to improve the value of your home if you come to sell.

Install decking

Moving from the front of the house to the back; one thing you can try this year to bring some interest to your home is to install decking in the back garden. Decking can be a great place to set up outdoor seating and will be the perfect setting for your alfresco date nights or summer parties. You can buy decking in a number of colours and styles and it will add a stunning feature to your garden.

Create a flower display

If you feel as if your garden is a little boring and dull, one way to vamp it up in little time and the little cost is to buy a bunch of bedding plants such as primrose, pansies, marigolds, and more and plant these on a display. You can either choose one colour and create a monochrome display; randomly place colours for a wild feel; or create a pattern with your flowers and wow everyone who visits. Colour is incredibly impactful and it will add some real interest to your garden.

Paint the walls

If you want a quick fix to a boring-looking home the easiest thing you can do that will have an impact is paint the walls of your home a different colour. Now and again it is a good idea to refresh the paint colour on your walls, and during the spring and summer paint will dry quicker so it is the perfect chance for you to do just this. Choose a completely new look for your home and look at interior design magazines for guidance. To reduce the cost to you remember to try and maintain a colour scheme that fits with the accessories you already have in your room. You can find colour palette ideas and matches online and find a hue that will look amazing on your walls but won’t clash with your existing items.

Upgrade the curtains

One of the smaller jobs you can do that will instantly make a difference to every room of the house is to upgrade the curtains as well as their rods. You can find a ton of great Double Curtain Rods online in different finishes such as chrome, brushed metal, and wood. Once you have this in place you can choose a bright or pastel curtain to sit atop it and brighten up the space. Replace garish floral designs with a plain color and it will bring the illusion of space back to your window and the area surrounding it.

Install new light fixtures

One feature of the home that is often overlooked is the light fittings on our ceilings. Light fittings can make a room either look bright and modern or old and dull; and if yours are the latter it is time for a change. When purchasing a new light fitting consider switching from warm white light bulbs to cool white and this will impact your home more than you realise. The clear, white light will illuminate your home without the sickly yellow hue and can refresh the room.

Decal the kitchen cupboards

The kitchen is the heart of the home and many of us host parties as well as enjoy a summer tipple in our kitchens. To upgrade and improve your kitchen in less than an hour; buy some kitchen cupboard door decals online and cover your doors with them. These decals come in a huge range of finishes from wood to marble and even bright glossy colour. Bring some fun to your kitchen for the summer with decals and change your kitchen design without having to spend a ton of money.

Change your cushion covers

One simple way to transform the feel of a room from winter to summer is to buy multiple covers for your cushions and change them through the seasons. Your once tartan or red cushions could now be transformed into yellow or green for the summer and it will bring a fresh feel to your living space without you having to spend a lot of money and time decorating.

Declutter everywhere

Summer is a time for breezy style and open spaces, and this means you should start having a spring clean now and declutter your home as much as you possibly can. Take the time this month to declutter your whole house as much as possible and get rid of items you no longer want or need. The space you will create in your home will be incredible and your house will feel refreshed and renewed.

Invest in outdoor seating

One of the best parts of the summer season is being able to sit out in the garden with your family or friends and enjoy time in the sun. To add a fun element to your home for the summer consider investing in a waterproof sofa and chairs for your garden and purchase a table to go along with it. This will provide the perfect place for you to sit out for a morning cuppa and it will also be the ideal setting for a relaxing sunny Sunday with your loved ones.

Use some of these ideas to transform your home and garden for the summer and bring some exciting features to the space.
