How to Incorporate Exercise into Your Daily Life

Some people enjoy exercise; however many dread the idea of working out to the point where they avoid it altogether. You may promise yourself that you’ll try tomorrow, but when tomorrow eventually comes around, you seem to have far more important things to do. Does this sound all too familiar?

If so, it’s time to think logically about how you can incorporate exercise into your daily routine without the struggle or dread.

You don’t have to become an athlete overnight to achieve an active lifestyle, but a few small changes in your daily routine could make all the difference to your fitness levels. Here’s how you can sneakily incorporate exercise into your life and make it an enjoyable experience:

  • Start a fitness plan

It may not seem the most logical thing to do when you have a busy schedule, but starting a fitness plan is perhaps even more important when life gets hectic. This way, you’ll know exactly what you’re supposed to be doing and when without making any excuses as to why exercise is at the very end of your to-do list. While rigid plans work well for some people, others may prefer the element of flexibility, but this will only work if you’re committed to your regime. Schedule exercise into each day by writing out a plan of the week ahead, so you’re always prepared. This may encourage you to be more inclined to follow a strict exercise regime, rather than putting it off when something better comes along.

  • Make time for a new sport

In your mind, exercise may seem extremely boring when you could be spending time doing something fun, but this doesn’t have to be the case. Taking on a new sport will bring a sense of enjoyment to your new active lifestyle. There are a wide variety of sports you can get involved with such as the likes of basketball, soccer, and golf; however, it’s best to find a sport that works best for you in terms of your mobility and skillset.

Golf is an ideal sport for those who would love to take on a less strenuous exercise, which can be easily slotted into a daily regime. Not only will you get more active as a result, but many golfers enjoy golf as a past-time and form of escape from the rush of their everyday life. If you wish to become a golfer, it’s essential to research the best equipment to use.  Hollow body irons deliver high speed and consistent response for the very best impact and performance.

  • Take the stairs instead

Although it’s much easier to take the elevator at work or the mall, why not take the stairs instead? This is one way of getting active without having to plan ahead. It also saves you a vast amount of time, which would otherwise be spent waiting around. If you don’t want to make commitments to an exercise regime, tactics such as this one mean you can remain active without thinking too much thought.

  • Commute to work

If you’re lucky enough to live near your workplace, why not walk or cycle to work? This is a clever way of incorporating exercise into your daily schedule; to use time which would otherwise be spent traveling on the bus or in the car.

  • Use your lunch break

If you don’t live in commutable distance to work, you could use your lunch break to keep up a good fitness level. Instead of taking a packed lunch to work, make an effort to walk to the shop to grab something to eat, or better still, join the local gym to use their facilities. Exercising during lunch breaks will re-energize you both physically and mentally as soon as you return to your desk.

  • Exercise at home

If you don’t have time to go out after work, or perhaps have a young family to look after, there’s no reason why you couldn’t work out from the comfort of your own home. You don’t have to be a fitness expert to make this happen – there are plenty of online programs available where you can learn different stretches and techniques to improve your stamina and build up muscles. If you wish to experience what it’s like to work out at the gym, you could purchase a range of home gym equipment such as dumbbells, kettle balls, mats, and small weights to make it far easier to work out without having to leave the house.

  • Work out with friends

Making time to work out with friends is another brilliant way of including exercise into a standard part of your weekly schedule. If you have a shared passion for fitness with a friend or family member, it will be ideal for making use of this time to socialize and stay active at the same time. You are then able to motivate and inspire one another to carry on when you feel like giving up, which may not be as easy if you were to exercise alone.

  • Early morning exercise

If you are struggling to fit exercise into your fitness plan due to your busy work and personal life, you could try getting up a little earlier and aim to work out as soon as you wake up. Set your alarm clock 30 minutes earlier and complete a workout before you head out for the day. You could have a quick jog around the neighborhood, hike a nearby trail with your walking sticks, or practice a few weights. Due to the fact that exercise releases endorphins in the brain, you’ll notice a significant improvement in your mood and have much lower stress levels, which will then set you up for the day ahead.

If you’re looking to get active in the near future, remember that even a few minutes of exercise each day is better than nothing at all. Incorporate one or all of these above tips and not only will you feel great in yourself, but it will also show in your appearance too!
