In the search for eternal youth, halting the onset of aging can be likened to finding the philosopher’s stone. While we can’t make our internal clocks go backwards (yet), we can certainly change our outward appearances. And, looking ten years younger is easier than you think.

Drink Plenty of Fluids

One of the easiest ways to help regain your youth is to drink plenty of water. Drinking the recommended eight glasses of water a day will detox your body and hydrate the skin. Adding a slice of lemon to hot water will help purify your body by flushing your liver and kidneys, since this is where the body filters out impurities.

Being properly hydrated is very important to remaining healthy and young looking. Put an apple in an airing cupboard, or other warm, dry place and have a look at it a week later. That’s what happens to your skin when you don’t hydrate enough.

Enjoy a Turkish Bath

If you enjoy being pampered and aren’t afraid of a little cold water, then a Turkish bath (or Hamam) will be a treat with added benefits. The combination of a steam room and cold water is highly beneficial to maintaining health. It regulates blood pressure and boosts your immune system by flushing out toxins. The steam room also helps people with respiratory ailments as it aids breathing and the expulsion of bacteria.

There is also the traditional option of having an attendant give you a scrub down and a massage for the full experience. Be warned though as it will be pretty vigorous. Otherwise you can just go for a self-service option, but you will have to supply your own soap and towels

Ditch the Junk and Eat Healthily

Fast food and an unhealthy diet leads to weight gain and premature aging. The biggest problem is today’s society is a ‘now’ society. Fast paced, leaving little room to prepare healthy food, or does it? Just replacing stodgy white bread with whole meal or granary, as well as cutting out pasta, will help a great deal. White bread and pasta release a chemical called collagenase which causes wrinkles through the destruction of collagen in the skin.

Eating fresh fruit and vegetables, which contain antioxidants will help restore elasticity to your skin, and as such reduce wrinkles. They are also a good source of vitamins with no added artificial chemicals.

Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle

Smoking is one, if not the worst thing you can do to your body. The medical facts are numerous, and it is widely accepted that aging is associated with smoking (along with many other health defects). Cutting out this dreaded addiction will benefit you in many ways, including improving the ability for the blood stream to carry oxygen as smoking suppresses it.

There is no magical way to stay looking forever young, but if take care of your health, take regular exercise, and follow the tips above, you should at least avoid being mistaken for someone ten years older.
