Want more people to start reading your blog? Just as you’d market a business website to generate more visitors, you should also market your blog to increase its readers. Below are a few effective ways to market a blog.

Share content on social media

A great place to build exposure for your blog is social media. The likes of Facebook and Twitter can allow you to connect with millions of potential new readers.

Start by creating pages on these platforms. You can then start sharing blog content via your page through posts. You could share content manually, or you can use an automation plug-in to automatically share new blog posts on Facebook and Twitter.

Consider using hashtags and mentions in your posts and use strong images. You can increase the reach of your social media posts by paying to boost them

Set up a mailing list

You could also consider setting up a mailing list for your loyal readers. This allows your readers to subscribe to a mailing list and receive updates about new content on your blog every time you publish a new blog post. Mailing lists are great for retaining return readers.

There is software you can use to set up a mailing list. When it comes to encouraging people to join your mailing list, consider adding features such as a sign up to mailing list button and pop-ups.

Invest in some PPC advertising

PPC advertising involves creating an advert leading to your blog and paying for it to display until a certain number of people have clicked on it. It can be another effective way to build exposure.

You can carry out PPC campaigns yourself or you can hire the help of a company such as Cardinal PPC Management. By planning out ad campaigns you can make them more successful.

Cross-promote with other blogs

You may be able to form a cross-promotional relationship with other blog owners. This involves promoting content from their blog in exchange for them promoting content from your blog.

Cross-promotion is most effective when two blogs deliver similar content, allowing them to both appeal to the same type of reader. You can promote each other’s content either by sharing posts via social media or linking to their blog posts within your blog posts.

Try some SEO

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It involves using tactics like adding keywords and increasing page loading speed in order to boost a page’s rankings on search engines. When applied to a blog, it can be a great way of attracting visitors to specific posts.

SEO can be quite complex and is best carried out by a professional company. There are different levels of SEO depending on how much you want to improve your rankings by. Ideally, you don’t want to spend too much for SEO for a non-profit blog – shop around for cheap options.
