Your Well-being is Suffering
It has been reported that those who suffer or struggle in their lives are twice as likely to change jobs as those who are thriving. If you work in a high position, then it may be that you are more likely to suffer from burnout as well. If you do believe that your role is having a large impact on your physical or your mental health, then now could be the time for you to change your role. If you do, then you may be able to find a job that utilizes the skills that you have now, without compromising your paycheck. If unemployment worries you and that is why you are not leaving the role you have now, then this guide from Shawn Meaike is a great resource.
You Can’t Advance
Do you feel as though you have been in the job you have now for far too long? One reason why you may feel stuck is because you are simply not able to advance professionally. You have to make sure that you do not spend a lot of time in a job that is devoid of opportunity. If you do, then you may find that you end up never being able to surpass the potential that you have now, and this can impact your career in the long term. If you want to do something about this, then you need to try and look elsewhere.
You Have a Toxic Working Environment
If you know that the environment that you are working in right now is impacting your mental health and that of your team, then this is another huge red flag. It may be that your organization tolerates bullying or that morale is very low. Either way, if the input that you are putting in is just not valued then now may be the time for you to start exploring other options. If you do, then you may find that you end up being in a position that makes you well and truly happy.
You’re Not Being Challenged
Do you feel as though you are in the same position that you were a few years ago? Do you not feel as though you are being challenged? If so, then this can indicate that your career has stalled. If possible, you need to try and ask your manager to see if they can give you something a bit more challenging. If they are not able to do this, then now could be the time for you to begin exploring other, more unique opportunities.
