Road Trip Essentials

Road Trip Essentials

Sponsored post.

A new year means new adventures! My boyfriend and I are planning a very exciting road trip across the country. We will be going to New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina and then back to New Mexico. Not only will be we driving, but we will hauling a small load on the way back. This means we need to be extra careful. Being prepared for a road trip does not have to be a hassle or a headache. It is actually quite simple! Here is a list of items I keep in my car all the time.

Road Trip Essentials

1 – Jumper Cables

I always pride myself on being a responsible driver, but everyone makes mistakes. There was that ONE TIME I left an interior light on when I went to the gym. Luckily, there were plenty of people around who were willing to lend me their jumper cables. Now, I always keep a set in each vehicle I drive.

2 – First Aid Kit

First aid kits are always a good item to keep in your car. If you keep medication, such as ibuprofen, in your first aid kit, make sure you discard expired items frequently and replace them.

3 – Flares

If your vehicle breaks down at night on a dark road, flares are a great way to make yourself visible to other drivers.

4 – Shovel

A shovel that folds up can easily be stored in your trunk. A shovel can come in handy in many situations. Getting stuck in mud and, um, emergency bathroom needs are two things that immediately come to mind.

5 – Wiper Fluid

Have you ever had a semi throw a pile of snow and slush up onto your windshield? Or drive through a swarm of bugs? Hopefully you get regular oil changes and get all your fluids topped off. But just in case, I always keep a jug of wiper fluid.

While these items will keep you safe on the road, nothing is more valuable than a reliable vehicle. Using Cars.com to find your next vehicle will give you peace of mind. Use their Price Comparison Tool to make sure you are getting the best deal. View the videos and reviews to get a good look and honest opinions about each vehicle. If you enjoy road trips like me, you might to take a look at the 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. I love my 4Runner and I am very excited for the newest model. SUVs are great for road trips because they are roomy and can hold a lot of cargo or luggage. I have so many amazing memories from road trips and I plan on making many more. Remember to stay safe out there!
