The Best Deal I Ever Got (The Steve Madden Booties Story)

I love shoes. I love DSW. Of course I am a DSW Rewards member, so when I receive that $10 reward coupon in the mail (or this coupon code for DSW), my head starts spinning with ideas of what I could buy.. I head to my local DSW and, as soon as I walk through the doors, I see it. The clearance section, off in the distance. It is as if I have tunnel vision as I race towards the back of the store, ignoring all the shiny new arrivals. You see, I don’t know exactly what treasures await, but I do know that I am determined to find the Best. Deal. Ever.

I have a hard time finding shoes that fit, and fit comfortably. So when I do find shoes that fit comfortably and are stylish, it is like an explosion of fireworks go off in my head and it takes all my strength to keep from performing a happy dance right there in the size 9 1/2 clearance aisle. I imagine it would look something like the Chandler Bing dance. During this particular trip, I had found some shoes that I was happy with, but had not found the diamond in the rough. I was about to give up when I spotted a pair of booties that happened to be in a shade of my favorite color. I got excited for a quick second, then told myself they probably don’t fit. I didn’t even bother looking at the logo on the box as I took them off the shelf. What do you know… perfect fit!

I start looking for the price when I see the tag inside….Steve Madden. Now I love me some Steve Madden, but they are usually out of my price range. Ok, so I’m drooling over these Steve Madden booties and finally find the price tag: Additional Blue % off Price Below – $99.95. You would think I have the colors memorized by now. BLUE? What is blue? Blue is not really an exciting color, so I’m thinking it is not that great a deal. 40%? 30%?

My darting eyes finally find what I’m looking for on the clearance board – 70% OFF!! I am decent at percentages, so I quickly figure out these shoes are $30. That’s a great price, but then I remember I have my $10 reward coupon. $20 for Steve Madden booties that were originally $100.

Commence happy dance.

Now I know this might not be the best deal in the history of DSW, or in my own shopping experiences, but sometimes the best deal isn’t about getting 99% off or free products, it is about the feeling you get when you find that deal. For now, this was my greatest find ever… until next time. 🙂
