No matter if you are saving for a big event such as a new home, breast augmentation surgeons, a wedding, or if you just want to put aside a little extra for a rainy day, saving can be hard. This is why it is a good idea to do it properly. Otherwise, you could end up spending all your savings on things that you don’t need and end up not benefiting yourself. If you are looking to save money but aren’t very good at it, there are a few things you can do that could help. Here are some top tips for saving money without realizing you are doing so.

1) Get an app that saves for you

If you are looking to save money, why not get an app that saves for you? There are many out there, including apps that round up your purchases to the nearest pound and put the rest into savings. Others take an amount out of your bank automatically every month (most people opt for it to be payday) and put it away for you. This is an easy way to save without having to manually do it yourself!

2) Make a budget and stick to it

Saving is much easier when you have a budget. Think to yourself about what you want to spend on yourself each month and what you would like to save. Then transfer an exact amount to you for spending and bills, then put the rest away. This is much easier as you know exactly what you have to spend in what area, rather than just spending aimlessly and putting the rest away.

3) Try the 30 day rule

The 30-day rule is essentially where every time that you would impulse buy, you put the money into savings. If at the end of the month you still want the purchase, then get it. If not, keep the money in a savings account. This shows you if you want to buy something because you genuinely want it, or just because you are buying on a whim. It also means that you will save the money you would have spent and it is now going to go on something more meaningful.

Cut unnecessary bills

We live in a day and age where we opt into a whole host of subscription services and our bills can be much higher than we might like. Take the time to go through your bills and find out if there are any that you can cut out. It could be that you are subscribed to a movie service for example that you don’t use or need and could be saving the money or putting it to better use instead

These are just a few things that you can do to help boost your savings that should have you with a much healthier amount in no time. What are some of your top tips that you like to use to help boost your savings? Let me know in the comments below!
