Try The World Snack Box August 2016 Review
I have posted before about Try The World subscription box. They have now released a Snack Box, which is a little different but just as delicious. It still allows you to try food from different countries that you can’t find in your local grocery store. The regular box includes items from one country and may include items that you use to bake or cook with. The snack box contains 5 ready to eat snacks from 5 different countries. It costs $19 per month, but you can save money by subscribing for 3, 6, or 12 months at a time.
Here is everything I received in the August box:
Frootiva Acai-Covered Apples (Brazil) – $3.09
Natural Sins Crispy Fruit Chips (Costa Rica) – $3
Pop Notch Marshmallow Popcorn (United Kingdom) – $3.40
SaMai Plantain Chips with Pacific Sea Salt (Ecuador) – $1.53
Hazer Baba Turkish Delight (Turkey) – $2.74
Total Value = $13.76
Because these items are foreign, it is difficult to find prices online and most are not available for purchase in the US. While the retail value of this box didn’t meet the cost, the real value is being able to experience different cultures without travelling or at least paying international shipping.
I was not sure what to expect with the pineapple chips. I thought they were just going to be pineapple flavored, but look like potato chips. They look just like a cut pineapple!
They taste like pineapple too. They were very thin and flaky, but held together. The color is amazing and looks very fresh.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the popcorn, because I don’t like marshmallow very much. You can see the pink marshmallow on the popcorn. It was actually pretty tasty!
I ate a lot of plantain when I visited Puerto Rico, and I was not a big fan. These chips were pretty good with that sea salt. I do love salty things.
This reminds me of Nerds candy, but definitely doesn’t taste like it. This was probably my least favorite item in terms of taste.
Whenever I hear of Turkish Delight, I think of Edmund in Narnia. I never really knew what it was made of. It’s like a gummy covered in powdered sugar. Delicious! I never knew you could eat rose petals, and you can really taste the flavor! Although, they are not pink like the picture. lol
