Out of every room in the house, there are few that you’re going to spend more time in than your bedroom. Sure, a lot of the hours that you’ll spend in your bedroom, you’re going to be asleep, but that doesn’t change the fact that your bedroom is a big part of your life. Because of that, you should make sure that it’s the kind of place where you actually want to spend your time. After all, if your bedroom isn’t a pleasant place to be, then you’re never going to be able to get a decent night’s sleep. Not only that but you’re also going to end up feeling far less comfortable than you would otherwise like to be. Luckily, making your bedroom the kind of place where you want to spend a lot of your time doesn’t really require that much time or effort. With that in mind, here are some things that you can do in order to turn your bedroom into your own personal paradise.

Get comfy

Let’s face it; if you’re not comfy in your bedroom, it’s not going its job properly. The key to a bedroom that you want to actually spend your time is that it should be the most comfortable space possible. The first thing that you can do in order to make that happen is to focus on your bed. Something like a memory foam mattress is a great first step towards making your bedroom the best possible place for getting a really great night’s sleep. Not only that but you should remember that blankets and pillows are your friends. If you don’t have that many blankets and pillows, get some. And if you already think that you have enough, get some more anyway, just to be sure!

Apart from a comfortable mattress, blankets, and pillows, a super soft thermoregulating pajama set can do wonders for your sleep. New pajamas can make you feel more eager to go to bed and get a much-needed eight hours of sleep every night. Plus, thermoregulating pajamas are perfect for wearing all year round, so you can sleep comfortably no matter the weather.

Bring in some color

A lot of people seem to think that the best thing for their bedrooms is for it to be the most neutral environment possible. And sure, too much bright color can end up sabotaging the calm, relaxing atmosphere that so many people want out of their bedrooms, but that doesn’t mean that you should give up on color altogether. The key is to find colors that relax you and help you feel comfortable. For some people, it might be a light blue while for others it might be a deep burgundy. The key is to figure out what kind of colors and style works for you and fits with the style of the rest of your home as well.

Inject your own personality

There’s nothing worse than a bedroom with no personality. After all, your bedroom is probably the most intimate part of your entire home so why wouldn’t you want to inject as much of yourself as possible into it? Not only that but having things like pictures of family and friends as well as pieces of art that you love all over the world can help to cement that feeling of your bedroom as a place where you can feel as relaxed and at home as possible. Of course, it’s always easy to go overboard, and you don’t want to end up with your bedroom feeling cluttered, but it’s better to at least try some things out rather than leaving your bedroom looking plain and boring.

Use light sparingly

Light is, by far, one of the most underrated tools in anyone’s interior design arsenal. With even the slightest adjustment in light quality, you can completely transform the way a room feels. It can make a tiny room feel cavernous, and a huge room feels cramped. When it comes to your bedroom, too much light can completely ruin the relaxing atmosphere you’re trying to create. Of course, too little light is going to make it feel dark and dingy, so the key is to try and find the best possible balance between those two extremes.

Of course, your bedroom is far from the only room in the house where you’ll want to spend your time, and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t take some of the ideas here and apply them to other rooms. The key is to think about the kind of mood and feeling you want to create with any given room. You might want your bedroom to have the most relaxing atmosphere possible, but your kitchen is going to benefit from being much more lively and bright, and your bathroom could be serene and clean. The key is to think about the needs of any given room and think about what you can do to fulfill those needs best.

I agree with having a color scheme for the bedroom. I for one love the color of light blue on my walls, it really brighten up the mood!
