What are the Questions Asked in PI Test

Due to increased competition in the business world today, employers are seeking to hire workers who can work under pressure and deliver tangible results without becoming emotionally and mentally affected. They are looking for workers with high cognitive ability and who can think critically when the business environment puts them under pressure.

The PI (Predictive Index Learning Indicator) test helps assess an individual’s cognitive skills through a series of questions. Its results show the person’s ability to adapt to a new work environment, learn and understand new work principles fast.

What does a PI test constitute?

A persons’ cognitive skills are the primary predictor of their ability for maximum performance at their jobs. It is an excellent pointer to the individual’s mental alertness and readiness to use critical thinking in the work environment.

The test has a total of 50 questions and test-takers are given 12 minutes to complete or at least to answer a good number of the questions. The PI mock test is designed to help candidates familiarize themselves with the content of a real PI test and use the knowledge they gain to help them pass the real test.

Some of the questions are customized to test the individual’s mental skills while others test their numerical skills. All these combined indicate their resilience in solving work-related challenges.

Which areas does the PI assessment test?

To help come up with excellent results on the candidate’s cognitive ability, the test measures the person’s abilities in three main areas – verbal skills, numerical and abstract reasoning abilities.

In a business environment that is constantly changing, a worker must be ready to keep learning and constantly acquire new knowledge. The data obtained helps a company to hire its workers based on scientific results.

What type of questions will you get in a PI test?

The 50 questions will be divided into three sections and each section will be testing something different. A candidate must take time to study to get familiar with the kind of questions contained in the test. Taking mock tests is a good way to help a candidate practice and get ready for the real test.

Verbal reasoning section

This section is designed to test how fast you can read, comprehend what you read, analyze the text and find the correct answer. The section will mainly assess you in three areas – how good you are in doing passage analysis, and your understanding of antonyms and analogies. For each question, you will likely be given three choices to select one.

As an example, you might be given several statements and you will be asked to pinpoint if a certain statement within the series given is correct, cannot be determined, or is incorrect. You must use your logic to pick the correct answer.

Other questions are different and you might be asked to indicate the correct antonym in a word or correct analogy in a passage. If you have practiced well, you will not find any difficulty passing this section of the PI test.

Numerical skills section

This section is trickier compared to the verbal reasoning section. You will be required to analyze and give interpretation to some graphs, charts, and numbers. The questions will revolve around three areas – numbers, values, and series although you will be given multiple choices and get a chance to use your calculator.

Example: Peter is supposed to work for 180 hours before Christmas to get his full pay. He decides to complete 50 percent of the hours within a month. What’s the total number of days he will work in that month if for each day he works for 6 hours?

A – 15, B – 22, C – 7, D – 19. To get the answer correctly, take 180 divided by 2 to get fifty percent of 180 hours and you will get 90. Take 90 and divide it by 6, and your answer will be 15. The correct answer is A.

Abstract reasoning section

This section contains a series of patterns, shapes, and images. You will be asked to study them and then find what the next series will be or you pick the odd one out. They are multiple-choice questions that will require the use of logic on your part.

Total scores to get

You are expected to score 50 out of 50 but if you cannot achieve that, aim to achieve the highest possible. If you can manage to get above 25 scores, you will likely get hired. Take your time to study, do mock tests and mentally get ready before the test day.
