You might have heard people say that it’s too late to start a blog. You might have read articles explaining that anyone starting now has missed the high point of blogging. That the market is oversaturated, and with so many blogs and bloggers out there, it is now impossible to get noticed or to do something different.
There are indeed more blogs now than there have ever been before with a reported 500 million blogs online and over 4 million posts published each day. It’s also true that this can make it hard to get noticed or taken seriously as a blogger. But, that certainly doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth starting one. Here are just a few of the reasons that you should still start a blog.
You Could Make Money
One of the most popular reasons to start a blog is that you could make money from it. Many bloggers today make a full-time living from their sites and related work. Some even live a celebrity lifestyle. Many more, while not making big money make enough to supplement their income, or even give up full-time work.
The growth of the market is, in some ways, bad for new bloggers. But, when it comes to making money, it means that all of the hard work has already been done. There are ad agencies to join, affiliate programs already set up waiting for you, and big brands are already aware of the benefits of working with influencers on their digital campaigns. It’s all there waiting for you to jump in.
You’ll Make New Friends
Of course, blogging isn’t all about money or fame. It’s not even all about success. One of the best reasons to start a blog is that you’ll meet new people and make new friends. The blogging community can be competitive, but it’s also filled with supportive and helpful people, eager to make new friends. Some of these relationships might only exist online, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t important.
Blogging is a Great Outlet
A lot of people start blogs because they want an outlet. Many people find that writing helps them to work through problems, spot solutions and let go of things that are causing them stress and worry. Even if no one reads what you’ve got to say, your blog can be your place to say it. Your little corner of the internet where you are free to vent.
You’ll Learn New Skills
Blogging can also be a great way to learn new skills or practice the ones that you already have. Bloggers write, they design, they take and edit photographs, they practice social media management and web design. There are plenty of skills to learn, and your experience blogging could even open other doors.
You Never Know
It’s never too late to do anything. Fashions change and return. Blogging might be popular, but there’s no reason to assume that will change anytime soon. No one knows what is going to happen. If you want to start a blog, do it.
