I love to entertain and have parties for all my friends, and I never let anyone bring anything. I like to do everything on my own, all my friends have to do is show up. So my refrigerator is always filled to the brim with food. From appetizers to main courses. Especially after Thanksgiving and Christmas, with all the wonderful leftovers, there is literally no room in my fridge. So what am I to do with all my wine? With New Years approaching, I am going to need a place to chill my champagne and white wine and the perfect solution is the NewAir AW-121E 12 Bottle Countertop Thermoelectric Stainless Steel Wine Cooler from Air & Water.
This is also perfect if you are a member of one of those monthly wine clubs and need more space to store wine. Once you plug it in and set the temperature you desire, it starts cooling pretty quickly. It retails for $169.95.
When it first arrived on my doorstep for me to test and review, I was very eager to unbox it. It was carefully packaged and easy to remove from the box. It was much lighter than I expected, considering it’s size. I was easily able to lift it on the countertop. Once I had it on the counter, it was easy to move into place. It slides around on it’s feet, which are adjustable. I never thought about this feature being necessary, but maybe you have uneven countertops. You can adjust one or more of the feet to make the cooler level.
I plugged the wine cooler into the outlet (after carefully reading the instructions of course) and it immediately turned on. I adjusted the temperature to 64 degrees (it was in the 70s when I turned it on for the first time) and could hear the fan working. It makes a low humming noise, which is actually kind of relaxing. The temperature started dropping right away and it reached the desired temperature very quickly.
The cooler fits 12 bottles, 3 on each of the 3 shelves and 3 on the bottom. One feature I love is that the shelves slide out for easy access.
I love the stainless steel design. It is very sleek and looks fabulous in any room. It is the perfect size for most counters and is not too wide. It should fit under any cabinets as well.
I also love the design of the handle. The only thing I did not like was that the handle is not attached. You do have to assemble it by attaching it with screws. It is not a big deal, but over time screws always come loose and then you have to tighten them. This is not a major flaw, just a personal preference.
