Weight Loss Journal - Week 2

Last week I started a weight loss challenge. My goal for the first week was to avoid eating out, including the office cafeteria, for 7 days. This was hard because I had a friend visit from out of town and we love to eat out and find new restaurants. I succeeded, sort of, in avoiding the cafeteria and only ate out a couple of times. Here is how my week went.

I started out strong, not getting any cravings. On Wednesday, I had a strong desire to get take out. I was very aware of this urge and I kept telling myself how ridiculous it is to have this craving. I am my own worst critic and can be hard on myself. Having this inner struggle on day 3 of my challenge showed me that I really do eat out too much. On Thursday and Friday I did go to the cafeteria for lunch, but I avoided the sandwich line. I got salad bar on both days and made sure to load it with veggies and protein. So that was a win in my book.

When my friend came to visit, we went out for dinner on Friday and I got a burger. My win in this situation was that I did not eat the fries that came with it. On Saturday we could have gone out for dinner again, but instead we got fresh veggies and chicken and grilled out at friend’s house. It was delicious! We had fun playing Cranium, drinking some brewskies, and listening to my friend play guitar. You don’t need to go out to have a good time. 🙂

On Sunday, we went to this incredible buffet brunch at the Viewhouse in the Denver Tech Center. The spread is incredible. I resisted most temptations, stuck with proteins and had a few tiny desserts. I was very full, but did not feel sick as if I had eaten a bunch of carbs.

Considering the circumstances this week, I think I did OK. It was not perfect, but I am proud of myself for making certain decision in certain situations. This week I am traveling, which is a big obstacle for me. I usually do not prepare food or buy fresh food before I travel because it will spoil while I am gone. I also tend to eat fast food in the airport when I am traveling.

Week 1 (Starting) Weight – 191.2 lbs.
Week 2 Weight – 188.4 lbs

Total Weight Loss – 2.8 lbs
