My Very First Stitch Fix!

My Very First Stitch Fix

If you follow my blog, you know that I love subscription boxes. My favorite boxes are the beauty/makeup boxes. I have always steered clear of buying clothing online because of my body size and shape. Generally, I am a Women’s Size Medium top and Size 12 pants. But I always try on clothes before I buy them. If a shirt or sweater has long sleeves, there is a decent chance that it won’t fit me in the upper arm and I will have to go up a size. Pants can be tricky too. I can’t even do mid-rise anymore. I have large calves and skinny jeans or pants won’t fit unless they are stretchy. So I have stayed away from clothing subscription boxes until now.

It’s pretty simple. Stitch Fix costs $20 per box, which covers the styling fee. You try on the clothes, keep the ones you like, return the ones you don’t. Pay for the items you keep and the $20 styling fee gets applied to that cost. Yay! You can sign up here.

I have been following other bloggers’ Stitch Fix boxes for a while now, and decided to try it out. My wardrobe needs an update now that I turned 30! The style profile you fill out is very detailed to make sure you get items you like, and you can also leave a note if you are looking for specific pieces. You can elect to receive a box every 2-3 weeks, monthly, or every other month. I can’t express how I excited I was for this box to arrive. It helps that the box is pretty and everything is so neatly packed.

The explosion of patterns in the box had me giddy.

Your Stitch Fix stylist includes a styling card to show how you can wear each item, and a personalized note just for you.

I received 5 pieces, including a cardigan, blouse, sweater, pants, and scarf. I love that I received very different items.

Renee C Huebert Space Dy Open Cardigan – $58 [Return]

This cardigan was very comfortable and I can see myself pairing it with almost anything, however I already have 2 gray cardigans so I returned this item.

Fun2Fun Marlena Abstract Print Tab Sleeve Blouse – $48 [Return]

I so wanted this shirt to fit! I am not usually into abstract prints and this is very different for me. However, I am trying to be bold in my new wardrobe and take chances. Unfortunately, it did not fit in the upper arm area, so it had to go back.

Margaret M Emer Brocade Print High Waisted Cropped Pant – $98 [Return]

This is another piece I wish had worked out. These pants do not have any buttons or zippers. They are stretchy goodness. I love the cropped pant look with flats for Spring. Even though they stretched over my calves, the stretching of the material made the pants sit funny around my knees. For the price, I could not justify keeping them. But now I’m on a mission to find cropped pants.

Laila Jayde Bowie Solid Dolman Sleeve Top – $58 [KEEP]

I’M IN LOVE! Right now my stomach is my problem area and I love wearing loose shirts and sweaters. This sweater is light enough that I can wear it during the slightly cool days of Spring. I am dying for this color. This piece is a hit over and over again.

I asked for cute casual clothes, because all I really have are t-shirts. I can dress this up for work or wear with jeans for a casual yet “put together” look.

Octavia Henry Birds on Branch Infinity Scarf – $28 [KEEP]

I don’t normally go for prints of animals, but for some reason this scarf appealed to me. The little birds are so cute. I think if it was any other animal, I would have returned it.

I kept 2 items and returned the rest. After the $20 styling fee credit, I paid $66 for a sweater and a scarf.

Order Summary

I had so much fun with my very first Stitch Fix box! I was a little disappointed that some of the items didn’t fit, but I think it was for the better. My wallet thanks me. I was able to keep the two pieces that I absolutely love. I liked that items were included I normally wouldn’t be drawn to in the store. I tried on everything and learned that some things look really cute on me when I didn’t think they would! I also love that I am being introduced to brands I’ve never heard of before.

By the way, if you purchase every item in your box, you get 25% off the entire purchase! Visit Stich Fix for more information.

Stitch Fix is very fun. It sounds like you were describing my exact body shape. I have the same upper arm problem and big calves. I have been enjoying stitch fix and have kept a very similar dolman top in navy. Now to find some pants that fit...
